Tick, tick, tick

Wednesday 14 November 2012
Yesterday's plans were achieved. I'm stunned. After arriving at work around 11:30, I left at 4.

The car parking fees were $90.00. There were no tears because work is going to reimburse me for the cost. I didn't expect this at all, and I wouldn't have even asked about it, but I was encouraged to and would have been nagged to death until I did. I also get a meal allowance and overtim as a time off in leiu credit.

The hard work and excessively long hours was worth it. I'm exhausted, but satisfied. It's a rare occasion when I actually feel like I've pulled my substantial weight on the job, so I'll celebrate t for just a little bit.

The final item on yesterday's list was calorie consumption of 1400 or less - The total came in at around 1440. Sliiiightly over, but not a total wreck.

Today is going to be more of a challenge to stay within my the calories. We are having a team lunch, ordered in from the local Chinese takeaway. I figured if I order the chicken and cashews (not my favourite mind you, but it is one of the healthier options) with extra veg and rice. Eat half today and half tomorrow. I'd rather have the hokkien noodles with duck but I know that is a fat trap and I am focussed on avoiding those for now. Backing it up with a healthy, tasty salad using some vegies and herbs from our little balcony garden should keep me on track.

I've also just realised I forgot to pack breakfast. I probably need to start having it at home again. Meanwhile that is going to make sticking to the plan infinitely more difficult.

Right now, I'm feeling pretty good. Motivated, focussed, committed. Terrified that something (else) is going to happen to screw it all up, but I'll just keep plugging along while I can.

Well done! :)

Re breakfast. I am the worlds worst breakfast eater. My stomach does not like to be awakened with breakfast. It prefers to sleep in, even when the rest of me is up and going.

I usually have one hour from waking up to arriving at work - this means 45 minutes to have my shower, get dressed, hair drying, coffee making, and breakfast eating and then 15 minutes to open the gate, drive out, shut the gate again and drive the two minute drive to work, find a park, go inside and set up my desk for the day - we hot desk. I mostly make it.

For the days when I don't make it, and something has to give, it is always eating that loses out. I have some containers at work with the right amount of cereal in them ready to add milk to and eat.

I think being prepared is a pretty vital part of all this. The more prepared you can be the higher your chance of success.

I remember the one day I forgot to take my Lite N Easy - lucky for me I had some low calorie alternatives stashed at work, and I also had an apple stashed in the fridge or it would have been potato chips and chocolate - these are the only available to buy options in my workplace.

I also have some low calorie freezer meals stashed away there now, too. Sometimes they ask us to extend a shift from 6 hours to 7.5 with a meal break of .5, so if that happens I have a solution rather than drive down to maccas which is right near where I work, best to eat something good. :)
