The big reveal

I'll cut to the chase - Mr Redpene has secured a fantastic job opportunity in Melbourne. However it is only for six months (but with possibility of extension).

For the six months of this contract I will be living in Brisbane.

It's a rather daunting prospect, after 2.5 years of seeing each other, sleeping next to each other (almost) every day, to think that we will only see each other on weekends and not every weekend at that.

There are some benefits however to being a 'temporary single lady' as I'm calling it - I can cook the meals I want (if I feel like a week of zucchini and tomato salad I can have it), have minibreaks in another city and be utterly selfish for a time.

At the end of the six months, all things being as they are now, I'll be packing up and joining him.

Mr Redpene departs approximately 7 January. It's going to be a crazy-busy time for us - packing up our home and splitting our items between two locations, selling off/giving away the unwanted furniture and finding a new place to live.

I'm scared and excited. I'm already hating that I've hurt friends by announcing the move, but I'm also looking forward to having an opportunity to potentially change careers.

Everything is up in the air right now - the winds of change are upon us and while it's going to be a horribly bumpy ride (apology for the mixed metaphors, I haven't had any coffee yet) but there will be grand adventures ahead.
